Quote That Hit Home

Hey guys!

"This too shall pass"

I found this quote on Pinterest  and it really struck a chord with me. I think it's one that everyone should think about, especially if you're like me. I tend to over analyse every tiny minute detail of my life until I've twisted it into something that inevitably upsets me.

If something is really bothering you, I'd suggest thinking of this saying. Eventually the feeling, situation, person will go. It may not feel like it at the time but it will. You've got to think of what you want in the long run.

I'm applying this saying to my exams, in the long run I want to do something to do with law. My exams "shall pass" and I'll be able to do that. Stressing over them so much won't help me, they will come to an end in a month and I shall be able to relax then

Revision and stress- had enough?

Hey!

Revision and stress getting you down? I know it's getting me down and I've hardly done any yet!
It's coming up to that time of year where summer feels like it's close enough that you can touch it but you've got to get through exams first

I am a right stresser when it comes to exams and assignments. Before a majority of exams I will have broken down in tears at least once, had my mum say 'you can do it, you always do' and then had sleepless nights over it. I wish that someone had screamed at me to relax before all of them, so I'll be the person to tell you to relax. Relax people, you can do it!

I'm here to share some of my revision tips, perfected over the years. Let's try and avoid looking like the below polar bear!

exams

  1. Use the first day of your revision to plan what you'll do, get all the books and notes you'll need together and all the materials like post its, coloured pens and the likes. It will get your brain in gear for revision and it will make you feel good too.
  2. Seeing as you've got everything planned out, try to stick to it. Don't be too strict with yourself but make sure you can look back at the end of the day and see what you've achieved.
  3. TAKE BREAKS! Your brain needs a rest and cramming it with every piece of information you can get hold of, will just overload it
  4. Get parents, friends and siblings to help and test you on things
  5. Don't revise in one way, your brain becomes accustomed to this way and stops working. Mix it up every now and then with mind maps, notes, pictures
I feel this post has helped me too! I'm ready to get down to something. What's your favourite way to revise?

The Holidays Are Coming!

Hey!

Today's post is a bit of a short one, just to let you know THE HOLIDAYS ARE COMING!
Spring is well and truly upon us, although you wouldn't know it from our British weather! Being at university means that summer holidays come even earlier this year; mine start May 10th after my last exam. I absolutely can't wait! After having to do uni work through Christmas and Easter, I can't wait for a holiday that can be completely dedicated to doing what I want (without the dreaded work hanging over me). Even I must admit though, 4 months of holiday is a tad excessive, what am I going to do?! The possibilities are endless (and I'll be bored by the second week!).

My summer holiday is already booked this year, I'm going to Tenerife with a friend for a week and staying in somewhere called Playas de Las Americas. I've heard it's really lovely and I'm counting down the days to top up my tan!

I've added a picture of my sister, my cousins and I on an English beach last year, just to get us all on the holiday spirit! (can you believe how blue the sea is?!)

Where are you going on holiday this year?

New Lipstick on the Scene

Hey!

I have only very recently become a lipstick fan. I was always more of a 'slick of vaseline and you're good to go' girl but I have been lured!

A couple of years ago, my Nana bought me a lipstick for Christmas (I know it has probably expired, oops but I love it too much to part with) and it was promptly thrown in a draw, never to be looked at again. Until one night I was going out and fancied a lick of colour, I pulled out the lipstick (which was Bourjois Sweet Kiss) and never looked back.

Sweet Kiss
I will admit to never putting much pressure on this lipstick and always diluting the colour down with vaseline at first but I slowly became more confident. This was when my eye began to stray to new shades and I spotted the Bourjois Rouge Edition lipsticks. Fuschia Graffiti 07 immediately caught my eye, and my room mate can vouch for me when I say that every time we went to town, I would drag her into Superdrug to drool over it.

Fuchsia Graffiti

Finally after about a month of swatching my hand every time I was in a mile vicinity of this lipstick, I have it in my possession and it has quite overshadowed my beloved first. I'm sorry!
What are your lipstick favourites? Recommendations most welcome!

Review of both lipsticks and comparisons to come

Good Things Skincare Range

Hey!

Recently I have been getting quite bored with my skincare regime and I was itching to try something new. Seeing how much I loved the Soap and Glory Face Soap and Clarity (review here), I thought I would see if I could try more of their skin range.
To my disappointment they don't do a full skin range (missing toner; which I like to use) but they did do moisturiser. I toyed with the idea of buying it, until I came to my senses, remembered I was a student and most importantly that my mum would kill me if she found out I spent £12 on a moisturiser!

In Boots and newly on the hunt, I ran around manically until I came across the Good Things range. I will admit I was drawn by the pretty packaging at first, but the pricing and the fact they were in the 3 for 2 section didn't hurt either.
Good Things is a range that is aimed at young skin and uses 'superfruit beauty boosters' in their formulations. It is also suitable for vegan and vegetarians and free of all the nasty stuff, which is parabens, mineral oils, sodium laureth sulphate and animal ingredients, if you're interested ;)

Seeing as I already have a face wash that I love, I ended up picking up the Face the Day SPF 15 Moisturiser (with Goji Berry and Papaya), the Deep Pore Anti- Blemish Cleanser (with Fig and Wild Strawberry) and the Bright Eyes Eye Cream (with Raspberry and Lychee). I needed both of the former as I was running out but I was interested in the eye cream as I have never used one before.

I've only used them twice but so far, so good. I'm really hoping that they calm my prone-to-breakout skin and make it look more bright, as winter has really dulled my skin and dried it out.

Gelly Hi- Shine Nail Paint By Barry M

Hey!

If there's is a beauty blogger that hasn't got a blog post about these nail paints, I'd be surprised! These paints have been spoken about for quite a while now so I thought I'd give my take on them.

I actually got the two of these Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paints, for Christmas. I've turned into a bit of a nail fanatic and these got me super excited. These paints are designed to provide an extra glossy finish, mimicking the look of gel nails.
Left: Pomegranate Right: Satsuma
I've got to admit I tried these polishes soon after I got them and hadn't given them a second look until I saw a few more blog posts on them. When I tried them the first time, I found them too gloopy to handle, they stained my nails, were hard to take off. I was not impressed to say the least.

However seeing all these posts who were screaming their praises, I thought Id give them a chance to redeem themselves and by gosh, they have. This time I used a base coat to stop the staining, I could actually handle the gloopiness and the intended gel finish worked! I'm not sure if you can tell in the above picture, but I was really happy with the outcome.

As the name says, they're hi shine so no need for a top coat (I would advise no scrimping on the base coat though) which I love, easier the better! Apply one coat for an opaque hi shine colour, two for the gel coat finish. They retail at £3.99 which I think is so affordable for what you're getting and the colour range is good as well, after recently releasing some pastel colours.

I'm just sorry for the couple of months I spent not using these polishes!

Soap and Glory Face Soap and Clarity review

Hey!

When Soap and Glory added make up and extended skin care to the their range, I became increasingly interested. I love Soap and Glory as I feel they have some of the best smelling products on the market. They're lovely, fresh and clean smelling.

I have reviewed an eye shadow palette of theirs here and I'm reviewing part of their skin care range today. I was lucky enough to be given some Face Soap and Clarity for Christmas from a friend. This face wash is a fruity smelling face wash with small pink exfoliating beads suspended in it, to make your face extra clean!
Me and my skin have been absolutely loving it!

As usual, S&G didn't disappoint on the smell. This face wash claims to have "Superfruit Plum" in it and I don't know if this really attributes to the smell but it's lush anyway! I love love love the packaging that Soap and Glory have, from their retro look to the quirky sayings on them. I recently found out that consumers send in the pictures for the packaging, so if you have an old retro snap of your nan to send in, you could see her face on millions of bottles!!

Anyway, I can't pinpoint exactly what ingredient my skin likes in this product but it's definitely been benefiting from it. My skin has cleared up, I have less blemishes and my skin seems a lot brighter.

The retail price is £6.99 which isn't exactly expensive but more than I would pay for the average face wash. I do feel S&G have been cheeky in making their new ranges as expensive for being new on the market with them but, c'est la vie. Saying that, for how much my skin has benefited I do think this wash is worth repurchasing.
