First Impressions: Superdrug BB Cream and Hot Cloth Cleanser

Alex Georgie| First Impressions: Superdrug BB Cream and Hot Cloth Cleanser

I've been trialling these products for a couple of weeks now and I'm so excited about them, I decided to do a first impressions post. This isn't a full review as because they are both skin products, I like to wait about a month before I comment on them to see how my skin reacts to continued use. I'll do a short 'follow up' post in a few weeks to tell you guys my final thoughts on them.

Anywaaay, the long and the short of it is I've been loving both of these products. I haven't picked up another base product since I bought the BB Cream and the hot cloth cleanser is one of the first I've tried and I'm really impressed.

I was on the hunt for a BB Cream as Spring/Summer is coming up and I like to wear a lighter base in hotter weather. Not only so that my skin can breath but who wants to be sweating off a full face of make up? Not me, that's for sure! I first headed straight to the Maybelline stand as I wanted to try their Dream Fresh BB Cream but alas, they had stopped stocking my shade. That's when I went on a mad dash around Superdrug in an attempt to find an alternative. I stumbled across the Superdrug BB Cream and thought I would give it a go. I actually decided to pick up the anti ageing one in the end as it had a higher SPF than the other ones Superdrug offered. It promises to conceal age spots and imperfections, improve the look of wrinkles, improve smoothness/firmness of skin, boost radiance (another attractive purpose for me, Queen of Dull Skin) and even out skin tone.
I can't really comment on the anti-ageing side of it but I definitely feel as this product adds a glow to my skin as well as having a light coverage that even outs my skin tone and hides my hyper pigmentation.

I mentioned in a post a little while ago that I'd like to try a hot cloth cleanser. I've got quite dry skin and felt that face washes were just drying out my skin further. If you read this haul post, you would have seen that I picked up this hot cloth cleanser. I decided to go for Superdrugs' Vitamin E range as Miss Budget Beauty was raving about it at the time and I wasn't sure how much I would like this sort of cleanser so was playing it safe on the price range.
I really like this cleanser, it leaves my face feeling really smooth but not over stripped. It also comes with a muslin cloth which I feel gets rid of the impurities better than your average face wash.

All round thumbs up! Have you got any BB creams or cleansers that you like? Have you tried any of these products?

Montagne Jeunesse Face Mask Review

Montage Jeunesse review
Montage Jeunesse review Montage Jeunesse review Montage Jeunesse review
My sister and I decided to have a pamper morning on Christmas Day so we used these Montagne Jeunesse Face Masks in Mint Choc Chip and Blackcurrant Burst Peel Off. You may have seen them in this haul LINK. I've got mint choc chip on and my sister, Olivia, has Blackcurrant Peel Off.

My Verdict
This mask makes for the perfect pamper night. It smells delicious! Just like mint choc chip ice cream. I was almost tempted to lick a bit off but I've made that mistake with beauty products before! More than once... It is one of those masks that dries hard, as you can see in the picture above, which I was worried would be hard to take off. It wasn't though, I just wiped my face with a flannel and although some parts were more stubborn, I wasn't having to tug at my face. This mask claimed to hydrate, cleanse and get rid of impurities. My face felt quite fresh afterwards but I wouldn't say it was particularly hydrated. I have quite dry skin so it would be quite a tall order to complete.
Overall, this mask is great to get that clean feeling on your face, but nothing revolutionary. I can't hold that against the product though as for 90p, it's a nice treat.

Olivia's verdict
I love the smell of berries so for me this was the perfect face mask. However this particular mask was very thin, so when it came to applying it, I found it very messy. I also didn't have enough time to apply another layer as the face mask had already begun to set. I wasn't too keen of the feel of it on my skin either. I could feel it setting, which wasn't pleasant. It was extremely difficult to remove as only parts were peeling off properly and the rest came off in lumps of goo. Despite having to wash it off with face wash in the end as it wasn't peeling, I found that my skin was extremely smooth after. This mask was supposed to pull impurities out of your skin and I wasn't too sure whether it fully achieved that. Overall I wasn't a huge fan of the product however as I'm new to this whole beauty thing Alex does, I'd gladly give it another shot!

And there's Olivia's debut to Alex Georgie! Hopefully she'll be my guinea pig for more products soon! I can't find these anywhere online but I bought them from Primark for 90p each. I think they may be exclusive to there. Weird that I can't even find them on Montage Jeunesse's official website though.. If you want to check out more masks from them you can here- LINK

Hope you all have a great week! What face masks do you like?

Face of the day using 17 Complete Collection

I thought this would give me a chance to review a few of the things in the collection, as well as seeing what kind of look I could create.

 photo 17FOTD4_zpsa497de5b.jpg

I started with the Seventeen Photo Flawless Primer. I applied this with my fingers over my whole face. I found this gave me a lovely smooth feeling to the skin. However the next day, I came out with little white spots. I have used both the foundation and concealer for a long time now so can put this purely down to the primer so bear this in mind if you try this product. I wouldn't say my foundation lasted longer with it but it definitely went on more smoothly. My foundation of choice is the Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation in 400 Natural Beige and of course the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Medium 3. I buffed these both into the skin with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush.

Base done, I moved onto eyes. I used the Metallic Cream as a base. On first glance, I thought this would be too pink toned for my eyes but when applied, it gives a cream sheen to the eyes with a slight shimmer. Ther plan was to create a neutral cream and brown eye look, but I changed my mind on whim. I applied the golden shade on the left all over lid but found this to be too yellow for me. To counteract this, I applied the silver over the top of it to make it more creamy. I then blended the purple shade in the outer corner and through the crease. This is a colour I would never reach for but found myself drawn to it because it was so autumnal looking! I then blended...and blended and blended. I blame my over blending on the fact that this is a colour I would never wear usually and consequently was trying to avoid the 'I just got punched in the face' look. However next time, I would definitely leave the colour more vibrant.

I then applied the Smoulder Gel Eyeliner with an angled brush to my top lashes. I've been loving a cat eye flick recently but because this was my first time using a brush to apply my eye liner, I played it safe (not too shabby application, if I do say so myself!).
The product I was most looking forward to using was the coffee eye pencil. When swatched, this came up as a gorgeous gold. This did not translate in the waterline unfortunately. I drew, scratched and scraped at it but couldn't even get the slightest hint of colour. I applied the black instead, which came out grey, much to my disappointment. It seems my initial thoughts of the pencil eyeliners being duds were right.

To finish the eyes, I added mascara. I really didn't like the brush on this initially, it looks like a thick spooley, but it grew on me. It lengthened my lashes further but really its volume that I need, as my lashes are already quite long. This is a good mascara but doesn't do the job I need it to.

For lips, I used Very Berry, which I really liked as it's quite a subtle berry tone. Nothing too vampy. I really liked the look overall but would go easier on the blending next time. I've practically rubbed the shadow off! The possibilities with this kit is endless so I'm sure you'll hear more about it.

What did you think of the look I created? What would you have done?

Collection Lasting Perfection Creamy Concealer

Hey!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

Any blogger worth their salt will have tried this concealer! I think all that could be said on it, has been said but thought I would just do quick post on what I thought of it.

This concealer can be used for both under eye circles and blemishes as it is very creamy and high coverage. This would be something I would look for in a concealer as I have quite bad under eye circles a lot of the time and blemishes on my cheeks. You don't need a lot of it as a little goes a long way so it lasts well. I find that applying it with the doe foot applicator and then blending it in with my finger works best for me, application wise. I don't have a bad thing to say about it really!

The packaging is good for the price you're paying and I like the doe foot applicator. However the packaging tends to get grubby quite quickly, I've had mine for a little while now but as you can see most of the writing has come off and it looks worse for wear. However for what you are paying I think that the packaging is something that can be looked past!

I like this concealer and would recommend it but am looking forward to trying a new one when this one runs out. If anyone was wondering, the shade I have in this is Medium 3. I bought mine from Superdrug or you can order it HERE

What's your favourite concealer? How do you like to apply it?

Rimmel Natural Bronzer- Sun Bronze

Hey!

Rimmel Natural Bronzer

Rimmel Natural Bronzer

I picked up this Rimmel Natural Bronzer in 022 Sun Bronze when my Clinique one finally bit the dust and crumbled into tiny pieces. I didn't really look around, just picked up the first one I saw. Luckily I love it! This bronzer gives me a lovely sunkissed look without being too orangey. I apply this either all over my face with a big fluffy brush or with a contouring brush in the hollows of my cheeks to give my face some definition. I find that this product works well for both uses and I like the fact it has SPF 15 in it, as some extra protection for my face.

One negative point I do have to make about it is the packaging. I'm not sure if it's just my bronzer or all of them as a whole but the lid always seems quite loose, so I have to make sure not to throw it in my bag. Other than that, I love it.

Since then I've been looking around and seen this bronzer from Collection (sorry for the stock photo, I don't own the product-yet!). It's huge and for a mere £4.19, it's an absolute bargain! I'll be interested to see how that one fares when my current one is finished.

You could pick either of these products up in Boots/ Superdrug or order them HERE (Rimmel) and HERE (Collection)

What's your favourite bronzer? Do you like either of these ones?
