Feeling down and asking for help

This post was going to be a follow up to a first impressions post I did. Instead though, I feel like I need to write a sort of 'dear diary' post.

I've been feeling a little disheartened with blogging lately. I'd been so looking forward to being finished with university for summer to throw myself into it and now it's here, I'm meh. I don't think this has anything to do with blogging but more my life at home.
At university, I'm on the go constantly. I lived with four other people so there was constantly something to do; someone to talk to. Obviously there was university and university work which takes up a lot of time. Add in two volunteer jobs, netball and the social life that comes with it and I hardly have time to breath. Don't get me wrong, this is what I love. When I'm busy I'm more productive, happier and healthier. I manage my time better as I know what little time I have and that I have to make it count. I'm happier as I'm on the go and being so active makes exercise seem like a doddle.

At home (the parental home), I have nothing to do and it's really thrown me. I'm currently looking for a job for over summer but the search still continues. When I went off to university, my friend group at home really diminished as maintaining friendships is hard and I put more effort in with the people I love. This means my friendship group at home now includes my three best friends. One works, one hasn't come back from university yet and the other is doing work placement. Leaving me alone during the day whilst my family are at work and college. Now I understand this is very first world problem-esque. Oh the poor girl has nothing to do during the day but I'm finding it hard to adjust to all the free time. I can see how moany this post an ungrateful this post is so please excuse it.

I suppose what I'm looking for is some advice as to how to adjust and find things to do. I'm still unpacking from university so blogging is a little hard as everything is still everywhere. I'm in the process of sorting out my wardrobe which will be something ticked off my list. A good spring clean. I've been ordering bits and bobs to organise my make up which is something that will make me super happy when it's done. Love a good aesthetic pleasure. I've also been working out which is what I'm off to do after this post is published.

Do you have any other tips for filling the time? Sorry for the weird post, just felt I needed to get some things off my chest. This is quite different and personal from other posts I do, so please drop me a comment with any suggestions.

  1. I feel the same sometimes especially if I had a bit of a jam packed week of none stop fun and excitement then I suddenly find myself sitting at home deciding wither or not I should just sleep all day just because I was bored. What I like to do when I'm feeling bored is find a day that my friends are available and make plans as it gives me something to look forward to.I also try set goals wither that be blogging goals, Work out goals etc to keep me focused and working. Maybe even try signing up to a summer class somewhere so that you have something to keep you going and something to get you out of the house, Just make sure its something you enjoy doing. It will help you make friends too :) x

Theres just some suggestions I try. They may not help but I hope you find something which can keep you going , Good Luck with looking for a job !. I know its nearly impossible to get one in my area. :)

    1. Thank you for such a lovely comment Cait! Because I'm feeling a bit down, it's making it hard for me see the bright side of things e.g. the weather (how lovely is it at the minute!) etc I'll definitely try some of the things you suggested! A workout goal is top of my list!

  2. my number one advise on this would be to accept the change! its a big change to end uni and start looking for a job. This post isnt moany at all, its quite true as we all feel like this, well those who finish uni at least or are going to start something new, now my time was 6 years ago, (im not a very old person) I finished uni and then got married and came to a totally different country where i had no friends or family but i survived with something to look forward to...exercise , make plans with friends, short term plans like working out more often, or join a sports club, i joined womens' boxing and trust me jobs will come when u r more social, tell anyone and everyone u r looking for a job , i landed my first one while getting my threading done :P so tell everyone and eventually u will find a job and a good social life too, dont feel down but accept the change and celebrate this time with a good book , may be a makeover or try one of those one day courses where u will meet lots of new faces:) hope this helped and get some vitamin d ;) hehehehee hope this helped hun x

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I felt ungrateful writing this post but it has been a big change from everything to nothing! I'll definitely be shouting the word about, such a unique way for you to get a job haha! I think I will look for some classes. I've wanted to do yoga for a long time so may as well be now! Thank you for such a thoughtful comment Shireen! I'm going to eat some lunch and then take a walk. Take your advice and get some vitamin D. The sun can't fail to cheer me up :-) xx

  3. I've got a year left but it really is awful isn't it! Applying for jobs and not hearing back, makes you feel so disheartened! Glad you've started to feel better! I think it's something that you have to come to terms with but it's hard to accept. I'm dreading this time next year. It is! I know I shouldn't feel like this but it's hard to shake the mood off when it takes hold!xx
