The Scrub of Your Life

 photo soapsand_zps43e2a9fe.jpg

 photo sugarcrush_zps53f84319.jpg

Oh my goodness, the scrubby limey goodness that is in this tub will blow you away. I'm actually struggling to write this post as there are no words for this heavenly scrub.

I'll get down to the deets. The Sugar Crush Scrub is fresh smelling lime, with mixed size scrubby sugar particles. Despite the oil you can see in the above picture, this scrub doesn't leave an oily residue. Instead it feels quite moisturising to the skin as if it's stripping (not in a bad way! just ridding you of the dead skin) and replenishing at the same time. What drew me to the scrub (as with all Soap and Glory products) was the scent. I feel as if this scrub wakes me up in the morning as it's so fresh. It is a strong scent, so bear in mind if you have sensitive skin or don't like an overpowering fragrance. The mixed size particles mean that it isn't overly abrasive but still gets the job done. It's the right balance of scrubby with mildness.

Overall it's my favourite scrub! I've been sniffing The Breakfast Scrub also from Soap and Glory and love the scent of that. I'm a bit hesitant as it's extremely sweet though (think maple on sugar on honey sweet). I do love me a sweet scent though so that might be one I pick up next! Do you have any scrub recommendations or love this one?

The Budget Concealer Trio

Drugstore Concealers

Now I'm not sure if you've noticed but this blog is primarily a budget beauty one (by primarily, I mean one high end Christmas gift has made it onto here). This is because I'm a student and I can practically hear my mum scolding me if I even venture to the more expensive end of Boots, let alone to the counters. I'm going to capitalise on this and explore the drugstore for you in the hopes of finding some gems. And believe me there are plenty!

What I'm sharing with you today is my concealer routine. These are the three products I use to hide my colossal bags, my 'one too many drinks' spots and all the rest of it!
First up is Collection Illuminating Concealer. What drew me to this is the illuminating part of it. I've got quite purple dark circles and they needed something more than just covering. This is a light concealer that brightens under the eye perfectly. It also has a peachy tone to it that cancels out my bags. I tend to use this as more of a correcter so will apply this lightly and then go in with a second concealer. The one I'm currently using is the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. Depending on the heaviness of my make up, I'll either dab this in my inner eye for a little bit more coverage or go all out with the classic highlighting triangle below my eye. Plenty has been said about this concealer but it is quite heavy so do be careful of that. I like to put it on the back of my hand and then dab it under my eyes for a less cakey look. Finally I finish with my Rimmel Stay Matte Power in Transparent and Real Techniques Contour Brush (it fits perfectly under the eye!) to set it all and ensure no movement!

I'd love to hear your favourite concealers. I'm a bit of a concealer junkie. I'm looking at the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer next! Looks amazing with the little sponge on the end.

The TMI Tag

 photo TheTMITag_zpsc869b7a0.jpg

Feels like quite a while since I have done a tag post! I've seen this one floating around YouTube and thought I would have a go. I didn't realise how long it was before though! Here are my (50!) answers..

1. What are you wearing?
My mismatching fluffy pajamas from Primark. The top has a little snowman on it saying 'baby it's cold outside' (cute I know!)

2. Ever been in love?
I have, once.

3. Ever had a terrible breakup?
All break ups are pretty terrible at the time but all my break ups seem to end amicably so no, I haven't.

4. How tall are you?
5″7

5. How much do you weigh?
Psh, not putting that on the internet!

6. Any tattoos?
No. Two of my best friends love tattoos and I like the idea but I know that I would regret it within a month. I love henna tattoos though because you can change them and they aren't permanent.

7. Any piercings?
I have my ears pierced once and my belly.

8. OTP?
Jess and Nick from New Girl

9. Favourite Show?
Big Bang Theory, New Girl, Pretty Little Liars, TOWIE, Sherlock. I can't pick one!

10. Favourite bands?
I like listening to music but don't have a favourite band. I really like Sam Smith- Money on my Mind at the moment.

11. Something you miss?
Life without responsibilities.

12. Favorite song?
Oops, already answered that one (#10)

13. How old are you?
I'm 19 and 20 in May. Can't I stay a teenager? :(

14. Zodiac sign?
Taurus the bull.

15. Quality you look for in a partner?
Kindness/caring. I think that's a lovely quality for someone to have and one I strive for myself.

16. Favourite Quote?
This too shall pass, what goes around comes around, he who fails to prepare prepares to fail. I love a good quote!

17. Favourite actor?
I don't have a favourite actor, my favourite movie ever is Clueless though.

18. Favourite colour?
Purple/ Turquoise

19. Loud music or soft?
Such a weird question! I like my music loud enough that I feel like I can dance to it (anyone get what I mean?) but quiet enough that I can still think/hear other things.

20. Where do you go when you’re sad?
I don't have a specific place I go... my bed if I was forced to pick. Really I just need to be able to talk to my mum when I'm sad (such a baby!)

21. How long does it take you to shower?
I can be in and out in less than two minutes if I'm just washing my body. If I'm washing my hair, closer to 20 minutes.

22. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
From waking up to leaving the house, whatever I'm doing, usually I'll leave myself an hour. I can be ready quicker, just depends on how I manage my time.

23. Ever been in a physical fight?
No, I'm so not violent.

24. Turn on?
I like a man's hands, is that weird?

25. Turn off?
Arrogance. It can be funny if played right, otherwise people can just look self centred.

26. The reason I joined Blogger?
I saw others doing it and thought that I would like to have a go!

27. Fears?
Dying, spiders, needles, vomit/vomiting. Not in that order.

28. Last thing that made you cry?
My grandad not being here.

29. Last time you said you loved someone?
A few hours ago.

30. Meaning behind your blog name?
My full name is Alexandra Georgina but I felt that was a bit wordy so shortened it to Alex Georgina and then again to Alex Georgie. Rolls off the tongue a bit easier!

31. Last book you read?
Fully? I can't remember? Partially would be my Law of Tort book. Boooo!

32. The book you’re currently reading?
More tort?

Pretty Little Liars.

The Agony of Bloggers Block

Hello my lovelies!

I've had a long hard think and I'm going to take a break from blogging. I've been working through bloggers block for a couple of weeks now and although some of the posts I've come up with in that time have made me really proud (I loved the response to The Stash Edit and just the post itself), I don't want to force myself to blog and for that to be apparent.

My plan is to take a break for a couple of weeks, just to get my mojo back. There's been a few posts I've written the night before recently and although they're of a standard that is satisfactory for me (otherwise I wouldn't have published them) that's not how I want it to be.

I hope you all understand and I would love some tips on how to combat this. I'm at my wits end. I love blogging so much but these days I sit down at my computer and draw a blank. I don't feel like what I have to say is interesting/witty/insightful enough anymore.

Anyway any tips are most welcome and despite a break from blogging, I will still be very much on Twitter and Instagram. You can find me at @alexgeorgie_

Organisational Tips

I love an organisation post but the real reason I'm writing this is because I'm hoping I can talk some sense into myself in the mean time. This week has just been one of those weeks. Nothing has gone right, I'm always a step behind, I'm definitely coming down with something (Susie I'm blaming you for this, even if it wasn't you...) and to add to that, my coursework has been returned. My marks were surprisingly good for the amount of stress I had over them (but the old green eyed monster reared its head anyway). Just one of those weeks where I'm not happy with anything. I'm planning a relaxing weekend and a restart for next week. I want scheduled posts and seminar's completed. Food shopping done and maybe even some food prep too. I'm such an organised person usually so this is so unlike me! Let me share my organisational tips with you (and refresh my memory of them too).

Tip number one: PREP, PREP, PREP
The age old saying 'fail to prepare, prepare to fail' couldn't be more true. You put in the work early and it pays off. You can apply this to absolutely anything and you will feel better, more confident in what you are doing and just happy. This is a feeling I've missed this week.

Tip number two: Diaries and notebooks
This doesn't just apply to just blogging. I never really used a diary before last year but it came so in handy to manage my week and commitments. It also was great to be able to look back and know exactly what I was doing on certain days. I never really think about it but I run my blog, go to university, volunteer and belong to part of the netball society. It's a lot to balance and needs more time than it seems. Having a diary is invaluable. There is nothing worse than double booking.

Carrying a notebook is also good. Space in my bag doesn't always allow for it (damn you giant law books) but it's nice to have to scribble down extra notes and memos.

Tip number three: Time management
This one is where I've fallen down this week (and prepping to be honest). I've allowed myself to relax too many times when I should be preparing my seminars, making my lunch for tomorrow, doing washing, brainstorming blog posts (still in a real blogger's block), the list goes on. Miss Budget Beauty is my real inspiration when it comes to this one. She's a mother, works part time, has a baby, posts 3 videos a week on her beauty channel as well as managing two other channels and posts on her blog daily. Now if she has time for all that, why am I running out of time?! In one of her videos she said she gets many questions about how she does it all and it's simply that she doesn't just sit in front of the tv, she's blogging and editing during, she's making content whilst the baby sleeps. She just gets on with it (you go girl!!) and that's what I (or you even) need to do too. Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today.

Tip number four: Lists
Lists are my god send. The satisfaction of ticking things off. Knowing what needs to be done. You can really get your creative flare on too. Prioritising things through colour coding, different lists for different things. It's perfection on paper.

Think this post has given myself a real talking too. I'm going to bed now (thank god for scheduling eh?) in the hopes to sleep off this god awful illness. I hope these tips have helped, you may (extremely likely) have heard them all before but a little reminder never hurts! Let me know your organisation tips and give me a kick up the bum in the comments!!

Face of the Day| Drugstore

Face of the Day January 2014

Face of the Day January 2014

Berry Smoothie
Berry smoothie to go with my berry lips!

I thought I'd share another FOTD with you today, if not simply to prove that I do wear other make up other than brown matte shadows (not that I stray too far..)

Recently my skin has been on the verge of a break out so most days I've gone without a base to give my skin a chance to recover and rebalance. I've realised that I have a real liking for concealer and am constantly flitting in between. The one I'm currently using is the Collection Illuminating Touch concealer for under my eyes. I've got quite bad dark circles and this has a peachy tone that cancels that out. I use my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent to set it as it does have a tendency to crease if I over do it.

For eyes, I kept it simple and used my MUA Undress Me Too palette. I've been trying to experiment with this palette and try and get some more every day looks out of it. The shimmer shades are definitely the better pigmented ones though and sometimes I feel as if I've over done it and look like I'm  going on a night out instead of just to university.
On this day, I used Reveal on the lid and Obsessed (my favourite crease colour) and I think I acheived the every day look! I then put a little bit of eye liner to thicken my lashline and mascara.

To finish the look, I did the teeniest weeniest bit of contouring (I'm trying to get back into it) and slicked on some Bourjois Colour Boost in Plum Russian. I still love this for an every day not too vampy lip.

What have you worn today? I've had a bit of bloggers block recently so any recommended tags or post requests would be most welcome!

(P.S. Please excuse my hair! It just wasn't doing what I wanted so I eventually gave in battling it and left it)

The Eye Edit- For Beginners

 photo eyeedit2_zpse06b9bb3.jpg
  photo eyeedit_zpsaf779cdb.jpg

Why does a post name seem so much more swish when it has 'edit' at the end? Be prepared for a lot more 'edits' coming your way!

I'm a relative newbie to under eye care so  I thought I would show you what I picked up with beginners in mind. Being a sufferer of the puffy eye if I sleep too heavy (or get too emotional at animal documentaries), anything with anti-puffiness attracted me. The Botanics Refreshing Eye Roll-On claims to target this so this was popped into the basket. I like that this product is a roll on as the metal ball is usually cold, not unbearably so, but enough to feel calming on the eyes. It also contains hyraluronic acid to help pull moisture into the skin and I like to think that this would then help my eye cream work better. Overall I like this product and feel it is perfect for beginners in getting used to that extra step in your skincare routine (whether it be a serum or gel), however you aren't going to see amazing results with this. It has a calming effect on application and preps the skin nicely for the eye cream.

Speaking of eye cream, for a beginner I would recommend the Good Things Bright Eyes Eye Cream. What I like most about this eye cream is how light it is. It's not a heavy cream that is going to clog my skin or sit on top of it. It does have an odd scent, a bit like a nasal spray but this isn't something that you can smell once applied. Again helping in getting used to the extra step and nothing too heavy for younger skin.

I've been using the eye cream for almost a year now and the roll on was added in a couple of months ago. I've really enjoyed using them together but although both have claims to reducing/ brightening dark circles I wouldn't say they've made a difference. In my opinion, nothing can (apart from a good nights sleep) so I wasn't expecting too much on that front.

I'm in the market for a anti-wrinkle eye cream now (it's all about prevention ladies) as with my hooded lids who knows what they'll look like with wrinkles! So if anyone has any recommendations that would be great. Also let me know if you would like another Eye Edit when I pick up the new (heavier duty) eye products!

What eye products do you like?
